Our credibility is the only asset we have. This policy describes the standards every page on Food Tracking Lab is held to.
Accuracy comes first
Every factual claim is checked before publication, and every score traces back to a documented test in our methodology. Where we make a measurement, we describe how. Where we make a judgement, we say who made it and why.
Independence is non-negotiable
We buy every app with our own money, including paid tiers. We accept no affiliate commissions and no sponsored placements — see our no-affiliate disclosure. Developers may submit corrections of fact, but they cannot preview or influence scores.
Named, qualified authors
Every review carries the name and credentials of the people who tested and wrote it. Meet them on our authors page. Nutrition guidance is reviewed by a registered dietitian.
We separate fact from opinion
Test results are facts; "this app is best for beginners" is a judgement built on them. We try to make clear which is which, and to show our work so you can disagree with our conclusions while trusting our data.
We correct ourselves in public
When we get something wrong, we fix it and log the change on our corrections page. Apps change constantly, and so do our scores — every page shows its last-updated date.
We take health seriously
Food Tracking Lab is an editorial publication, not a medical provider (see our medical disclaimer). We are mindful that calorie tracking is not safe for everyone, and we flag apps that lack basic eating-disorder safeguards.
